TODMORDEN - Strimming continues

The cutting back and strimming team were out again today. David and Kasher ventured up to Great Rock to work through the ever increasing growth of bracken, Balsam, ferns and brambles which threatened to engulf Todmorden 007 and Todmorden 006.

Tod 007, a narrow sunken walled lane which often gets overgrown with vegetation, goes from just below Great Rock to skirt Whiteley Royd Farm. Tod 006 goes from Upper House Farm down to Common Bank Wood. The first part of this track is usually clear, as it is often grazed by sheep, but the second half of the track is a jungle nightmare. Congratulations, however, must go to whoever it was that managed to thrash their way through the dense wall of bracken and Balsam!

We tried hard not to cut down too many of the brambles - blackberries are just at their juiciest peak. Get out there now - pick one . . .  eat one . . . repeat!!

Today's work has been funded by Todmorden Town Council. Many thanks

Tod 007 and Tod 006 below Great Rock.

The start of Tod 007 was hard to identify!

Brambles, bracken and willowherb threaten to take over this path.

David clearing a path through the vegetation . . .  its much easier
now to get to the blackberries.

Clearer and clearer -  it's a pleasure to walk this path now.

Tod 006 just above Common Bank Wood - it's a jungle
and virtually impossible to get through.

On Tod 006.

Tod 006 now - cleared, passable and, for the
sharp-eyed, offering a good view of 'The Pike'.

David cutting back on one of the easier sections of Tod 006.

Kasher, fully kitted out against the hordes of midges and flies.
