TODMORDEN - Todmorden Moor Geology Trail

 RJ, Mick and Kasher continued the improvements to the Todmorden Moor Geology Trail by dismantling one of the boardwalks whose stringers had started to rot. it was replaced with another boardwalk (but without a handrail).

The leaflet outlining the Todmorden Moor Geology Trail is now available from Todmorden TIC, from the Hebden Bridge Town Hall and from other outlets in Calderdale. An electronic version of the leaflet can also be found on the Heart of the Pennines website,

On a lovely day (but with a biting wind at the beginning) a new boardwalk was completed  and is safe and secure. However we will return on Friday to:

add in staples, to improve underfoot grip;

sort out the old timbers from the site;

install a number of white-topped posts along the route;

re-erect the posts which have been pushed over by the cattle!;

clean the information boards.

Many thanks to CALVAG for delivering the stringers and all other timber and tools to within 300 m of the site. We would also like to thank the residents of Holden Gate Barn who gave us access to the moor and thus saved us from having a long, long carry!

Today's work has been funded by a grant from Todmorden Moor Wind Farm. Many thanks.

Two posts were added to the side of the boardwalk to
minimise "bounce".
