HEBDEN BRIDGE - 3 jobs round and about

Stella and Rich tackled three recently reported problems - a broken bridge above Charlestown, encroaching buddleias at Callis and, a drainage problem and tree down in Crow Nest Wood. Today's work was funded by an individual donation.

The details

First job was to replace two slats on a bridge across Dale Clough, below Winters.

One missing and one totally rotten

An inspection of the slats indicates several will need replacing soon

Then down to the 'hole in the road' where the bridge over the river was gradually becoming overgrown with buddleia plants. All cut back, so should get more flowers and butterflies next year.

Final stop was the far end of the track called Crow Nest Road near Carr Bridge.

Water had been flowing over the track causing erosion, but when we got there it had stopped! Excavation revealed a pipe under water which was partially blocked. Several attempts to clear it were made with rods, but to no avail. Instead we diverted some of the water into another drain - hopefully this will stop the water over-topping.

Nearby we cleared some of the mulch off the path and checked some of the other drains.

We need to come back and sort several drains in this area.

One final job was to check a tree that was reported down. This will be sorted next week.
