Angus and Frank H worked firstly in the Mytholmroyd depot and then in Walsden.
1. In the depot
A platform shelf (think triangular, 1.7 m x 1.3 m x 1.1 m) was fitted to the only remaining un-shelved corner of the depot. It will be for storage of any 'not used very often items'. No pictures were taken because shelves are not very exciting photographic subjects . . . also we forgot!
2. Beyond (aka Ramsden Clough)
A journey over to Walsden let us inspect the footbridge that a CROWS team constructed last Wed (See blog 4th Dec 2024). Here's a reminder of what the finished structure looked like:
The purpose of the visit was:
i) to check if the bridge piers had survived the recent torrential conditions. Thankfully they were both still robust and stable. However, for the end of the bridge visible in the picture, we added extra stonework to: a) support the pier and b) deflect water flow so under-cutting would be less likely.
ii) to reposition the remaining old stringer (visible to left of picture) so that it will act to 'slow the flow' during and after heavy rainfall.
The footbridge is firmly supported at both ends and, being longer than the original, has more of the stringers resting on the piers than previously. Both ends are anchored (with 'thunder' bolts) to the stone piers. It is now as secure, stable, user-friendly and flood resistant as CROWS can make it. Enjoy!
