BLACKSHAW & HEPTONSTALL

Two pairs, Billie and Rich put in five waymark posts and Ginny and Neil finished off clearing the causey path at Pike Stone Bank and cut back a section of the Calderdale Way. Today's work funded by Blackshaw Parish Council, Calderdale Highways and donations to CROWS.

The details

Post 1 The route through Rodmer Farm was not clear so a new waymark post was installed. We took the opportunity to look at the gabions installed a couple of months ago. The stream recently rose about two metres - well above the gabions but they are intact. If they hadn't been put in by Calderdale Highways, we would have probably lost the path.

Still in place

Post 2 up the track to a path that was almost invisible - narrow steps and the waymark post not obvious!

The sad waymark post

Steps clear and new post installed

Post 3 on Brown Hill Lane a new post at a 'cross roads'

Post 4 joining Ginny and Neil at the Calderdale Way who had spotted an extra post out of the ground.

. Bottom was sawed off, new hole dug, be good for a few more years!

Ginny and Neil completed clearing the causey path beyond Pike Stone Bank - a lovely job to complete.

With some time to spare they cut back a very invasive clump of brambles nearby.

Post 5 - last stop for Billie and Rich at Lower Rawtonstall where a finger post was lying on the ground.

Sad post

Upright but a little shorter

A good day's work (and no rain).

Meanwhile, Ken added new perspex in the info board at the top of Heptonstall village - now you can see the contents!!
