Another lucky-weather day for our merry band of 6 (Frank S, Ginny, Ian S, Paul, Stella and Steve) to carry on with the work of widening the path below Heptonstall, high above the Colden Valley. If you check in to the blog regularly you'll remember that we are doing this work to bring the line of the path back from the precipitous edge and thus make the route safer. Today we got as far as the start of the woods. There are a couple of as yet unresolved things to consider. We want to see what might be done to assist the traverse of a steep and awkward slanting stone, and the stretch leading into the woods needs a bit more thought and may need revetment in a couple of places to stabilise the edge.
Today's nature notes: mewing of buzzards and a sparrowhawk fly-past
This work is funded by donations to CROWS - thanks so much.
