This very popular section of the Calderdale Way runs along a stony outcrop above Eaves Wood (with some wonderful views). The path has become very narrow and there are some very steep drops off the edge. Ian V and Rich went to start widening the path to make it much easier and safer to use. Luckily the forecast rain never really materialised. Today's work was funded by Heptonstall Parish Council.
Yellow section completed - more to do |
The details
The work started by cutting back encroaching trees, heather and brambles etc. Once that was done we cut into the bank to reveal the original width of the path - all very satisfying.

Some completed sections
Lots more to do and we want to tackle a very awkward sloping stone section - for which we haven't yet got a precise plan!
