WAINSGATE CHAPEL

WAINSGATE CHAPEL OLD TOWN

2 CROWS working in a graveyard? Sounds a bit ominous, but Ray and Paul with grave intentions, were on hand today installing 12 steps on a new pathway that threads uphill through the older Victorian section of the cemetery at Wainsgate Chapel. The idea is to make this part of the graveyard more accessible to the public, so in partnership with Wainsgate Chapel Charity, CROWS were invited to do some 'digging' so to speak.

Work funded by Wainsgate Chapel.

The path had been mapped out and had been in use for a while by chapel volunteers  Weaving its way up through or via the large mainly upright Victorian grave stones, certain sections of the path were hazardous to traverse. The plan (or ghoul...) was to start the path at the bottom end by the Chapel and work our way up by installing steps in strategic places to improve these sections. Fortunately the weather was bone dry so we were able to start the work in good cheer.

The starting point!

New steps 'bedded in.'

A further section completed.

A hazardous section to traverse.

Looking better!

Meanwhile, the Chapel had opened its doors for "Thirteen Grandmothers" an exhibition of textile art by Sue Wood.

One of Sue's patchworks.

Taking advantage of the offer of Coffee and Cake, Ray and Paul indulged themselves after a good days work! Splendid!

Enjoying the benefits!

We hope the steps are still in place tomorrow...
