HEBDEN BRIDGE - Nutclough

Two teams out today:

Ian S and Steve added side sections to the steps recently put in from Sandy Gate to the Birchcliffe Centre.

Rich, Andy, Jan, Jerry, Frank S and Angus installed revetment to secure the crumbling edges of the path that goes down Nutclough from Hurst Bridge. This path is often used by young children so an intervention was needed to prevent further deterioration. Work today was funded by an individual donation to CROWS.

The details

1. The steps to Birchcliffe.

A few weeks ago we cleared and repaired the steps from Sandy Gate. Today's task was to add side sections to prevent the infill from being washed out and to install a grab post at the bottom.

2. Revetment on the path above Nutclough.

Some edge sections on the path have started to crumble, so we needed to act before the erosion became hazardous. A detailed risk assessment of the very long drop below the path was carried out - none of us wanted to tumble into the clough below!

On some sections we added lengths of revetment to secure the edge, on others widening the path was sufficient.

Good job Sandy Gate was quiet!

All set up and ready to go
