MYTHOLMROYD - Hathershelf Lane

Andrew and Jan went up Scout Road and past Upper Hathershelf Farm to repair a rather tricky stile on the steep footpath up to Stake Lane.

The approach to the stile was overgrown and muddy and needed cutting back and clearing.  One of the stile legs and the treadboard had pretty much disintegrated and needed to be replaced.  The bottom rail was completely rotten, the cross-rails and the adjacent finger post were loose and needed firming up. The stile crosses the line of a drystone wall and some of the large stone steps were wobbly and needed consolidating.

Today's work was funded by the Calder Valley Fell Runners - many thanks.

The stile earlier in the year - rickety and overgrown with no treadboard.  Difficult to negotiate!

A similar view today after our efforts - sound, solid and inviting.
