BLACKSHAW HEAD - Pennine Bridleway

CROWS have again been 'contracted' to strim and cut back sections of the Pennine Bridleway (PBW) in the Upper Calder Valley. Thus, RJ and Kasher ventured to Blackshaw Head to complete the strimming of the final section which goes from Dove Scout to just above Cowbridge Wood on Blackshaw BW 070.

Strimming vegetation in a steep walled lane is not everyone's idea of a 'Fun Monday'! Thankfully the warm sun with a welcoming breeze and stunning views make up for the hardwork . . . pity about the midges!

Thanks also to the walkers, dog walkers and bikers who, by coming down this route, caused us to "tarry awhile".

Today's work on the PBW has been funded by Lancashire County Council.

Mmm! Skinny horses only?

The strimmed bridleway - bring on the chariots!.

Cutting back those hard to reach brambles.

A long way to walk back (uphill) at the end of the day.
