TODMORDEN - Cornholme various

RJ and Kasher ventured to Cornholme today to sort out a number of smaller jobs from the "to do" list. The weather did not make for easy working conditions!

1) Surveying around Wittonstall and Obadiah Woods

2) Drainage issues at the end of Tod 057 near Shaw Lane

3) Stile repairs at the end of the small wood on Tod 057

Today's work has been funded by a donation from Cornholme Wreath Making Workshop. Many thanks.

Drainage on Tod 057

Stile repairs on Tod 057

Details:

1)    Woodland Survey: These two woods are criss-crossed by a number of Rights-of-Way and Permissive paths. We will be back to install more marker posts and way-markers to clearly identify the routes through these woods and down into the valley.

2)    Drainage: The channels at the end of the woodland on Tod 057 have been deepened. Whilst not ideal it should be relatively easy to get to and from the stile as the drainage water is now in one channel. We will return to this area to replace some of the faded way-markers on the path at the edge of the woodland.

The deeper channel should keep the
drainage water off the path.

3)    The Stile: We have replaced two legs and one treadboard on this stile. We may need to return to improve the area near the lower treadboard on the woodland side to make access easier. At the moment there is a lot of mud!

step on the stile.

Less than ideal conditions for working.

and way-marking still to do.
