TODMORDEN -Calderdale Way at the Golf Course

A team of Ian V, Neil Mc and Kasher were working on the Calderdale Way (CW) at the edge of Todmorden Golf Course, to build a new boardwalk. Many thanks to Mick and Neil M for helping to get the timbers and tools to the site.

When the CW was surveyed in the Autumn it was realised that the correct path, towards the far corner of the golf course, was no longer walkable. This was because two or three springs seem to have appeared (or is it a case of damaged drainage pipes?).

The route had thus changed slightly and is sometimes extremely wet and muddy.

Today's task was to install a boardwalk to allow walkers to negotiate the wet area. The route has now been way-marked so that walkers have no need to wander aimlessly along the edge of the golf course!

Next week, we will need to add the kick-boards, the edge trim and put in three or four steps next to allow people to get up the bank beyond the boardwalk

Many thanks to the Council of the Golf Club for allowing us to build this boardwalk and associated steps.

Many thanks to Calderdale Ramblers who have contributed funds towards this boardwalk on the Calderdale Way.

The start of the day, with the springs clearly visible.

Neil Mc making sure everything is level and
at right angles.

The boardwalk in place and ready to
be nailed and stapled.

The end of today's session. Kick-boards,
trim and steps still needed...next week!
