Cragg Vale: Waymarking the 'Coiners Route'
A day with light winds, sleet showers and temperatures struggling to reach freezing for Kasher, Ian S and Frank H to clarify path directions through Sutcliffe Wood (FP Hebden Royd 091) and Hollin Hey Wood (FP Hebden Royd 063).
As well as cutting back any invasive Holly, several marker posts or poles were installed, and waymark discs were added to new and existing structures e.g.
1. New post and discs |
2. Old post with waymarks . . . old and new! |
Otherwise, the day went as follows:
3. Is this a hole we are digging, Ian, or are we still looking for your contact lens? |
4. Hollin Hey Quarry: Abandoned creation of a 'mill wheel' (probably due to a flaw in the gritstone). |
5. Clearance of invasive Holly. |
6. End of session: Frank H and Ian looking remarkably happy ... despite the frozen fingers. |
Thanks to Kasher who took the photos (and hence didn't appear on any of them) and to Hebden Royd Town Council who funded this work.
