HEPTONSTALL; PENNINE WAY at HEBBLE HOLE

A Spring day at last, curlews calling and some warm sunshine for Ginny, Linda, Neil D & Stella.  We went first to Heptonstall to finish widening the level path below the Bowling Club, which encroaching soil and turf had narrowed.  Hopefully this will restore accessibility for people using  pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Job done!

After lunch in the sun we went to Hebble Hole to clear the steps on the Pennine Way on the South side of Colden Water.  Again vegetation had encroached and narrowed the steps and path, forcing people to walk closer the edge on the steep side and risk eroding it.  The steps are not easy - they are deep and sometimes uneven, and the hillside is very steep, but they are secure and, after today's work, they are easier to negotiate.
