A gorgeous sunny day to be out appreciating the birdsong and clearing a path. This one runs from Heptonstall Road near Lily Hall down to the Heptonstall "by-pass", and was pretty choked up and narrowed.
Linda H and Stella set to with shears, loppers, azads and spades to cut back vegetation, widen the path where it has become too close to a steep edge and to clear off a lot of buried stone steps. We got half-way down. The lower section is extremely steep and needs more investigation. It probably has some stone steps and can definitely be improved, so we shall be back.
Today's work was funded by Heptonstall Parish Council. Thank you.

Tricky steps near the top of the path... |
|
.... now easier to negotiate |

Walking close to the edge... |
|
...no longer necessary.
| This flight of well-graded steps was quite buried | .. |

This is the steep path in the lower section which needs some exploratory work |
