CORNHOLME - Various

Mick, Ken and Kasher had a morning in Cornholme tackling a number of jobs, checking on problems which had been reported, and carrying out surveys.

1. Repairs to stone steps/turnbys on Todmorden 060

A number of stone steps on this route beyond Frieldhurst Farm were stabilised with metal pins. The turnbys were also cleared.

1. Stone steps:starting to collapse.

2. Steps repositioned and now
pinned firmly in place.

2. Drainage issues on the permissive path above Todmorden 063

Earlier in the week, when the team were carrying timbers etc for the stile work above Frieldhust, we noticed a problem with the drainage on a permissive path above Tod 063. This path eventually crosses the stream and enters Obadiah Wood. The water which was flowing down the footpath has now been directed across the path and down into the stream. Turnbys on this route were cleared.

3. Mick and Ken sorting out drainage
issues.

3. Dog gate on path near Dundee on Todmorden 086

Problems with this metal dog gate had been reported. We went to investigate and came up with a possible solution. This work will be added to the "to do" list.

4. The stile and dog gate to be repaired.

4. Footpath Todmorden 087 off Knotts Rd.

CROWS had been informed that a short footpath (Tod 087) seems to have disappeared under vegetation. We have tried to find the route of this short cut from Knotts Rd to the gateway before Knotts Wood. There is little evidence but another route has been created 100 m beyond the line of the definitive path.  We will investigate further and, if possible, add a few steps to this path to make it safer.

5. Is this the new route of Tod 087?

Today's work has been funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks
