Small jobs day
After a rather unpromising start to the day, having left the job sheet in the depot and having to contact a very patient Frank H for directions, Eleanor and Linda H started work on two jobs up at Colden. A stunningly beautiful albeit chilly day!
The first job was to clear the stile below
Was it a gap stile or a step stile? Well in the event it was both, but very tricky as a wire fence was impeding the cross rails.
The fingerpost next to the stile looked as if it was ' on the wonk' but actually was accurate and pretty firm. May need replacing in a couple of years time. Put on a waymark to confirm the path.
Cleared the stile, but needs the fence to be removed to make the stile properly accessible.
An aerial view of the stile on the field side. There was a complex, unorthodox arrangement on the field side , to allow for a more gradual descent . Someone had gone to a lot of trouble in the past , but the step and stone were completely covered by vegetation, so we unearthed the structure. Everything good and solid.
Second Job ( no photos) was to waymark the path across the fields between New Road and New Shaw Lane above the New Delight pub.
A short but constructive day!
