RIPPONDEN : BANK HEY BOTTOM LANE /QUAKER LANE & HEYS LANE

A windy day but thankfully dry. Lynda, Fred and Eleanor tackled cutting-back jobs on the path that runs between Fiddle Lane and Bank Hey Bottom Lane and down Quaker Lane .

There is always water running across the cobbles at the bottom of this path. It needs a proper drainage channel digging down one side to take the water away (too big a job for CROWS), but in the meantime we decided to severely cut back the vegetation on the other side of the path so walkers have a safer passage:- particularly useful in icy conditions.

Fred in action....

Vegetation cut back to the fence line making the path through safer .

And now on to Quaker Lane.

This is a bridleway and a popular walk up from the Ryburn. Again it is very overgrown and waterlogged at the top end. A lot of cutting back and strimming was required. If you look very carefully you might spot Lynda in a holly bush!

Fred on a strimming mission .....

Bridleway much improved  . . . and just before the rain came down!

Home time......

Meanwhile on a hillside not far away, Ian S and Paul were completing the work on a stile (on Heys Lane) which had been started a couple of weeks ago.

This work is supported by a grant from Ripponden Council and individual donations
