TODMORDEN - Guide Quarry

On a day which threatened heavy rain showers but proved to be a beautiful autumnal day Mick, Neil M and Kasher returned to Guide Quarry, off Flower Scar Road.

We had previously constructed four tree enclosures and had planted small trees, some of which had come from the Woodland Trust. Today we built another enclosure, this time with salvaged wood and donated sheep netting. It will certainly be cheaper to construct any further enclosures this way rather than using new timbers and should be just as effective in keeping sheep and cattle away from the small trees.

We are still on the look out for rails and for suitable timbers to use as corner posts. We will return to plant the tree in the next couple of weeks.

Today's work has been funded by a kind donation in memory of Robert Harker who was a keen walker and lover of the countryside.
