TODMORDEN

Today's Todmorden "Strim and Trim" team consisted of Fred and Kasher

We returned to Seedhill Lane which is a useful walled lane from Broadstone St in Priestwell. This route is in one of the popular  Todmorden walks leaflet so hae a reasonable amount of "traffic" but not quite enough to keep the path clear! This path was strimmed at the start of the season but we had been asked to do this again.  Thankfully the main problems were willow-herb and nettles - easy fodder for the strimmer!

1. The top of Seedhill Lane.

2. Fred, the cleared lane,
 and a very appropriate sign.

We then moved on to Stoney Royd Lane to clear path Todmorden 192 which goes from the end of the houses on the RHS and makes its way up hill and then over the railway. We also cleared Todmorden 094 which links in with Tod 192.

It was clear that these paths have not been used significantly in the last few months. People, however, have been walking in the area and 'creating' a number of not RoW lines. The strimming work should provide a clear guide as to the correct RoW direction.

3. The top of Tod 192 on Stoney Royd Lane.

4. Fred attacking brambles and bracken.

5. The cleared FP of Tod 192.

6. Some pruning on Tod 094.

The end of the strimming season is fast approaching (thankfully!!) so the "S and T" team will then revert to other tasks which are on the CROWS "to do" list. Please do let CROWS know if there are any tasks/FP problems that you think we may be able tackle in the Upper Calder Valley.

Today's work was funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
