With the forecast of heavy rain half-way through the day, today's team of Ken, Neil M, Catherine and Kasher decided to tackle jobs close to home and without a very long carry.
Three stiles and some steps on Todmorden 102, above the Backup Road and near Hazel Greave Farm, had been identified to be in need of repair.
Ken and Neil M tackled the stile nearer the road whilst Catherine and Kasher tried to make sense of a slightly unorthodox stile nearer to the farm.

The lower stile "just" needed one leg reg replacing. It is strange that a task with the word "just" always seems to take significant time, as well as effort!
The higher stile needed the "flying legs" to be grounded by placement of large flat stones, two new short legs to be added and tread boards to be replaced.

Whist in the area, we sorted out a number of wayward marker posts, cut back some overhanging trees and repacked and infilled steps, near a small stream, with stone.
We will be back to sort out the steps, which seem to have been trashed by cattle, and the legs of a stile above the "scaffolding pole" stream crossing.

Today's work was funded by Todmorden Council. Many thanks.
