MYTHOLMROYD - Cragg Vale River Path

We received a report of a dangerous footbridge and so Frank S went to investigate. This is the bridge over Parrock Clough at the start of the permissive path up Cragg Vale alongside the river. The two beams under the bridge are both rotten and one has started to collapse.

It's clear that the bridge will need to be replaced, and so as a temporary measure we fixed two metal straps across the damaged section to slow down the collapse and posted warning signs.

With this extra support the bridge will probably last a few more weeks until we can raise the funds to replace it. Meanwhile brave walkers can continue to cross the bridge and the faint hearted can make use of the low water level and scramble across the rocks beside it.

If you would like to help fund this bridge you can make a contribution via our website.
