TODMORDEN -Gauxholme

Today's Todmorden team of Mick, Neil M and Kasher travelled across the 'border' to Blackshaw Head and completed the way-marking on Blackshaw 041. The way through the brewery yard has been clearly marked as has the path direction up the field. The latter, however, will need work from the "strim and trim" team to further define the exact path through the very long grass. (Currently, the path being walked is not on the RoW!)

1. Neil M and Mick in the gloom.

We then moved to a "path" near Gauxholme. This path (Todmorden 111) looks as if it has not been walked this century! It's certainly a route for lovers of the obscure, the steep and the overgrown - even in summer wellies and walking poles may be needed! However, it is a useful link in the network of paths that criss-cross the Gauxholme hillside, as it runs East from Dean Farm towards the start of the Naze Road track. In doing so it links, at one point, with Todmorden 112 which runs SE to intersect with a continuation of the Naze Road track . . .  Phew! . . . and that's just the start of the 'spider's web' of paths in this area!

We also re-embedded some of the marker posts but will need a return visit to install some others and to clarify the way-marking at the start and finish of the footpath.

2. A post needs to be in much deeper
 . . .  because it's a back-scratching
favourite for cattle!

3. And here's the view from Tod 111
. . . down, down, down into Gauxholme.

Today's work was funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
