Pennine Way Callis Wood

On Monday this week Linda H, Heidi & Stella were in Callis Woods where the Pennine Way briefly leaves the main track to climb steeply up through the trees to rejoin it higher up.  The transition between path and track at the top was somewhat precipitous so we agreed with the landowner to try and ease it by putting in some steps. The steps needed a lot of hardcore fill, which was kindly supplied by the landowner from the heap he keeps for maintaining the track. The path remains steep There is still a bit of a manoeuvre down from the last step - we may need to put in another.

Such a lovely time of year to be working in the woods!

This work is funded by Natural England.
