 BLACKSHAW HEAD

Mick and Ian V returned to a path heading north from the Long Causeway to install some posts and waymarks.

Two posts to indicate the way from the road through the farmyard, and a yellow top post in the field, were installed. We also walked along the east-west footpath to install a post and check a notice advising walkers to detour around a boggy area. The notice was in a bad state of repair so we've taken taken it back to base for renovation. A job for another day will be to take it back and replace it.

After installing the posts we met the landowner and had a very friendly conversation, the outcome of which was that we may have to move one or two of the posts to allow easier access for vehicles onto the field! Watch this space.

We then went to Todmorden to check out a drainage problem on a path heading north from near the tennis club towards the golf club. It's difficult to assess drainage problems when it has been fairly dry but there are several turn-bys that are completely silted up so we intend to return to clear these out and see whether this improves things when the rains come.

Work funded by donations.
