MYTHOLMROYD - White Field Lane

Frank S, Ray, and Frank H were out today at White Field Lane, a narrow sunken footpath between two hedges, that leads from Park Lane up to Erringden Moor. We had a report that a stile was broken and its upper step had come loose. However, we first had to find the stile amongst all the new growth of vegetation. This clearly needs a bit of cutting back!

1. Jungle 'warfare'?

Here's the stile before we started.

2. A teetering higher step.
Not a surprise - the legs are rotten!

And here's the end result after replacing both legs of the higher step, cutting back the encroaching vegetation and clearing the drain. Frank H is climbing over as a final quality control test.

3. Mmm! That's a difference (see picture 1)

A little further up the path, we cleared the old paving stones and cut back the holly bushes.

4. Wider and cleaner . . . but may still be slippery when wet!

This popular route is now much easier to use.

The work was funded by donations CROWS.
