Hebden Bridge Callis Wood

 CALLIS WOOD

Mo and Heidi worked on the Pennine Way at Callis Wood. Following on from last week, when four steps were built, we added two more steps and revetments to the footpath coming off the main track from Stoodley Pike. One of the steps was very tricky, owing to the huge immovable concrete stones buried in the path making it necessary to build a long step with revetments.  The path had eroded badly and people were struggling to go down it. The steps make it so much easier. We will finish tidying it up and putting two stobs on either side of the revetment next week. It was back-breaking work using hard core to fill the steps. The landowner kindly allowed us to use his hard core but digging and loading was very hard work . . . better than the gym though . . . and the sun shone.
