Ken and Kasher worked on the third stile to be repaired between Swallowshaw and Lower Ashes.
We had determined that we did not need to replace the treadboards or the legs. However we needed to replace the uprights and rails and, most importantly, to add a dog gate. Thankfully we had two passing canines during the day so we are hopeful that the effort of installing the dog gate will be appreciated by the dogs . . . and their owners!

The main problem today was the removal of a firmly embedded rock which was exactly where the larger upright needed to be. With a lot of blood, sweat (and a few tears) we managed to remove this..... before reburying it again when we filled in the hole. We also uncovered some well-worn steps in front of the gap stile, which were hidden by years of grime and grass.

Funding for today's work came from Todmorden Town Council. Many thanks.
