RIPPONDEN - STILE ABOVE RYBURN RESERVOIR

Billie, Lynda and Eleanor returned today to the area above Ryburn Reservoir to repair a stile, cut back vegetation and put staples on the bridge we installed a few weeks ago.

The top step and supporting posts were completely broken and rotten , and the hawthorn hedge and other vegetation were encroaching onto the path.

As usual with these things, digging one of the post holes proved the most challenging and time consuming task, but fortunately the other hole (on the field side) was easier.

... and fortified with a cup of tea made by the friendly and grateful lady whose garden is adjacent to the path, we finished the top step, but as can be seen the lower step needs raising and the uprights replacing. Will return next week to finish.

After lunch, we did lopping back of overhanging branches along a stretch of the path, some waymarking and hammered staples into the new bridge.

This work was funded by Ripponden Parish Council and individual donations.
