NUTCLOUGH WOODS Hebden Bridge

The Team
Stella, Linda, Heidi & Mo

The first day of Spring!  We met early at the depot to cut the timber, loaded it up with the tools, and drove to Nutclough Woods.

The job

A set of broken and missing steps for replacement and repair.  Not surprisingly, people have been avoiding them and walking a slippery line to the side which in time would erode the bank.  Encouraged by sunshine, birdsong and a persistent woodpecker we set to . . .

Deciding where the steps should be.

Digging out and first fix.

Stobs in and nailed.....

Then the steps needed a lot of filling, so there was an hour of heave-ho of buckets of stone and gravel from the stream.

...and hey presto!

While Linda and Stella cleaned off the tools, Mo and Heidi went across the stream to replace a rotten slat on a bridge.

Many thanks to The Friends of Nutclough Woods, who funded this work.
