HEIGHTS ROAD - Wicken Hill Farm

There were two teams out today (23/03/2022). Frank S and Kasher spent a sunny Spring day up on the hillside above Wicken Hill Farm with views down over Mytholmroyd. There is a popular path (Hebden Royd 025) that runs up the drive from Heights Road, around the farm, and continues upward to Churn Milk Joan. One section, as it crosses the steep hillside, is very narrow and was starting to slide away. Here's a picture of the path before we started work.

The narrow path up the field before the work

We widened the path into the hillside and added two lengths of revetments in the worst places. The path is now wide enough for easy walking, and a great improvement for the fell runners who sometimes come down here using head torches in the dark. This is how it looked after we had finished.

The path has now been widened

It may not look like a steep hillside . . . but it certainly is!
