HEBDEN BRIDGE:- Purprise.

Purprise: stile leading into Middle Dean Woods

We have just received a picture relating to the work we did on Sat 31st July. Here's the situation:

This beautiful stile was built, in June, by CROWS to replace a ramshackled arrangement that consisted of two rails fixed to wobbly uprights - climbing it was a hazardous undertaking!

We hoped dogs would be able to jump up onto the second step of this stile and go through the gap between the top two rails. Unfortunately not all dogs have this level of athleticism so some adjustments were needed to create a dog-gap.

The picture that follows was very kindly provided by a family from Nottingham who were on holiday in the area.

One dog-gap created and a dog named Star is the star of the show!

Although CROWS usually repair/replace like-for-like we may in the future, depending on landowners' wishes, add dog access to any stiles we construct.

Stiles are expensive. CROWS make them from scratch and customise to match ground, gap or slope conditions.

Any landowner buying, in kit form, a manufactured 'two-step stile with dog-gate' would be very lucky to get any change out of £150 . . . and then there are the labour costs of transporting to site, installation and construction. Mmm! How much for two workers for a day to do a decent job?

CROWS' work on this stile was funded by donations.
