EAVES

Stella, Frank H and Ray returned to the path running south from Tiger Tops to the main road.  This path is becoming a marathon! - as we repair one bit it becomes apparent that another section needs attention.

Today's job was to repair and make safe the revetment and hand rail which is there to stop folk falling down the very steep slope above Hebden Royd School.  They had become rotten, wobbly and unsafe. Removing and replacing the whole structure would have made the job quite dangerous, likely to take two or three days, and thus made this popular path unusable until the work could be completed. So we accomplished our mission  by putting in new posts next to the old rotten ones, nailing them firmly together and replacing three lengths of rotten revetment.

The structure is now firm and safe.  However it lacks some middle rails, and more rotten revetment needs replacing. So (as I think we said after previous sessions when we put in steps and widened the path!) we'll be back ...

New post fixed to old, new revetment

More handrail required to fill the gaps.....
....but so far so good
