Location : Hardcastle Crags
CROWs : Eleanor, Richard P, Gerald, Barbara and Terry

Task : was to clear a section of path from Gibson Mill up to the stile and the path to Slack. The main concern was the amount of mud that had accumulated on certain sections due to recent heavy rains. Many of the turnbys were blocked and needed reinstating to assist with the flow of water downhill.

 Before clearing..........................

............and after clearing.

The work involved scraping the surface and creating channels for the water to flow along.

A number of original turnbys were discovered and cleared.

Where a bigger water flow came across the path we diverted this into another channel to keep the water from the path.

One narrow section of the path was overgrown with roots from a nearby tree. These had to be cleared and the path widened.

Path before.........................

Path afterwards.........................

There is still more work to be done higher up but at least we made a good start into the task.
