Location : Hardcastle Crags
CROWs : Gerald and Terry

Task : Continuation of the work started on Friday. Some drainage issues, path widening and general path clearance.

Path down from Slack head high in nettles which needed to be slashed. Would be good to follow up with strimmer.

After slashing.....................

Area requiring drainage, as you can see a difficult job as the area is so large, there is not natural run-off point and the area is full of tree branches.

We started by clearing the mud off the path and found a hard surface below. Working back from that we dug channels into the deep mud.

Eventually we created a low point by digging under some tree roots.

Hopefully now the water will drain along the channels, onto the hard path surface and then through the 'hole' and away from the path.

The next job was widening the path where tree roots had caused the path to fall away. We were not able to do much as the tree roots formed much of the pathway.

Before widening...........................

After widening...........................

Along from this was another section of path which needed widening.
