TODMORDEN - Knowlwood Road and the hillsides above Cornholme

There were two teams out from Todmorden today:

Team 1 (Ken and Neil Mc) : measuring up for a new handrail at the bottom of Swineshead Clough (Tod 209) and then sorting out the steps on Tod 188 which goes from Knowlwood Road to Lumbutts Road. We will need to return here to complete the steps higher up the slope and to fit the handrail at the bottom of Swineshead Clough.

Team 2 (David and Kasher): sorting out a number of drainage and way marking issues on the hillside above Cornholme and Barewise Bridge. After today's work we have a number of other small tasks to add to the "to do" list!

Many thanks to Shirley Harris who, yet again, has allowed us to park at her house so that we are nearer to the multiple jobs on the hillside.

Thanks too to the organisers of this year's Wreath Making. Funds from this event are again being donated to CROWS. We really do appreciate this.

Today's work has been funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.

Team 1:

Location of Tod 188 : steps to be fettled up.

A random arrangement of stones which bear little
resemblance to steps!

Steps now in place.

Wayward stones secured with metal pins.

Team 2:

Tod 008 above Barewise Bridge:
water from the clough has been "escaping" and flowing down
the path.

Drainage and way marking on the hillside.

David and the first of many areas of soft rush.

Widening and deepening the water channels
near Dundee.

Putting back in the marker posts on Tod 049.

David and yet more soft rush.

Trying to tame the waters of a fast flowing clough.

Way marking in the rain.
