Hebden Bridge

 Sandy Gate and Wadsworth Lane

Despite facing a yellow weather warning of blustery  gale force winds today, Ginny and Paul did get out and manage a couple of minor jobs in the Hebden Bridge area. Optimism about tackling some cutting back jobs in Old Town faded quickly when faced with horizontal bands of rain showers. Instead we headed for the lower regions of the hillside and succeeded in completing two small jobs in reasonably sheltered locations.

Work funded by CROWS donations - thank you!

The first job entailed finishing off one of the flight of wide steps that lead up to Rowlands Lane from Wadsworth Lane above Dodd Naze Estate. A wide gap had not been filled in under the riser leaving this step exposed to erosion. A length of timber was fitted and screwed into place to cover the gap.

Step complete

The second job involved fixing a way mark wood panel to a high boundary wall on Sandy Gate. The old way mark panel had disappeared under overhanging creepers. We managed to drill two holes into the tough stone wall and screw the new wood panel into place.

We then carefully positioned the way marker onto the panel; the new sign pointing up the cobblestone path. This ROW takes you  through a small hamlet of houses and around toward Dodd Naze.

New waymark sign fixed on.
