Another fine day for strimming! RJ and Kasher decided to tackle the Pennine Bridle Way (PBW) between the graveyard at Mankinholes, past the Top Brink Inn (https://topbrink.com/) and then down to Lumbutts Road, (Tod BW 172).
CROWS have been contracted to strim a number of sections of the PBW in the Upper Calder Valley. The section strimmed today is the longest we have been asked to strim (so far!).
With the lack of rain, there has been limited growth of the vegetation which made it slightly easier, this year, to strim the bridleway.
We took the opportunity to try out the Husqvarna battery-powered strimmer. We found that it tackled the grass and soft vegetation with ease but was slightly less capable of cutting through the brambles than the petrol powered Stilh brush cutter.
Today's work has been funded by Lancashire County Council. Many thanks.
Many thanks also to the landlord of the Top Brink for allowing us to park our vehicle in the pub car park and near to the work site . . . and extra thanks for the very welcome refreshments two thirds of the way through the cutting back task!

Causey stones, spring flowers, shade.... a perfect place in which to work. |

As it is a bridleway it was good to have some equine users of the route. |
