TODMORDEN - The Fielden Trail (part 4)

RJ and Kasher went out to complete the survey of the Fielden Trail. This is a 19 mile circular walk around Todmorden which links together places associated with the Fielden family. The walk can be completed in four sections. Today's route took us from the Shepherd's Rest to Gaddings Dam via the Basin Stone. From Gaddings we followed the route to Stoodley Pike and then down to London Road, Mankinholes and along the Calderdale Way to Longfield.

Check out: https://www.jimjarratt.co.uk/walks/fieldentrail/section%204.html

We have noted a number of issues which need to be addressed.  In places the description of the trail needs amending so it matches reality, and alternative routes may be required for some sections. Conditions permitting, CROWS will tackle these problems over the next few months.

Today's work has been funded by a Todmorden Ward Forum grant from Calderdale Council. Many thanks.

Causey Stones above Blarney Castle and a distant view of the Pike.
A number of marker posts along this route have disappeared!

RJ at the Basin Stone with another marker post which
needs either replacing or perhaps re-installing.

Marker post near the Pennine Way with Stoodley Pike again
in the distance. Many of the marker posts need firming up.

Erosion on one of the paths down from the Pike.
Blocked  ditches are a major issue here.

Another Langfield Common sign which needs to be fettled.

A few stiles along the route need some attention.
This one is on the Calderdale Way.
