HEPTONSTALL = Draper Lane

The footpath called Heptonstall 051 starts at a gap in the wall on Draper Lane and goes down the hillside to New Bridge over Hebden Water. It is so steep that there are a great number of steps, and over the years the stone steps have become overgrown and the wooden steps have decayed. So a team of Andrew, Frank S, and Guy were out today to clear the stone steps and repair the wooden ones.

After replacing six wooden steps we continued down the path and cleared the vegetation off what seemed like hundreds more steps. This revealed that there are at least 35 steps in poor condition that will need to be replaced. We shall be back in the coming weeks to finish this work, and bring this lovely woodland path back into prime condition. Meanwhile, please take care when using the path.

This work was funded by the Yorkshire Veterans Athletic Association. Thank you for your support.
