Foster Dam Permissive Path |
This lovely path between the river and the mill dam is just on the edge of town, and is well-used. During the last few weeks CROWS has been working on various stretches to repair and restore, and make the path safer from the bridge at the north end (see previous blogs) to Windsor Road at the south end.
This has been a big project and the work has been generously funded by Hebden Royd Town Council
A couple of weeks ago, near the Windsor Road end, Jerry, Guy and Stella repaired the steep steps, down to and up from the stream, and installed a handrail.

Finishing off the handrail

Today a crack team of Jerry, Angus, Ken, Graham and Stella worked back towards Windsor Road replacing the remains of the old rotten revetment in order to stop the path eroding any further down the very steep slope into the gardens below. We haven't quite finished this stretch, so we'll be back here in another couple of weeks.

Old revetment has rotted away...... |
.......and the path is narrow, the slope is steep. |
So here we go . . . lining things up |
. . . making holes for the stobs |
. . . fixing the revetment to a stob |
. . . and feeling pleased with ourselves! |
nice curve, eh? |
