It was good to be out today as some work parties have been cancelled recently because of the poor weather.
There were four teams out from Todmorden:
1 Mick and Neil M: cutting back near Lobb Mill and installing marker posts near Stones. (See separate blog).
2 Ken and Gareth: adding a dog gate and making some improvements to a stile below Top Brink. (See separate post).
3 Andrew and RJ: erecting a small barrier to encourage people to take an alternative path across a moor (in Blackshaw Head) and then replacing a marker post in Shore Green (See below).
4 Catherine and Kasher: repairing two stiles and then replacing yet another marker post near Knoll Top Farm above Warland (See below).
Today's work for teams 3 and 4 has been funded by generous individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
Team 3:
The path (BS044) crossing the open access moorland near Daisy Bank has become very wet and is becoming wider and wider as people have tried to find an alternative, drier route. An alternative (but temporary) route has been established and way marked. A request for walkers to use this alternative and a temporary barrier across the original path may help the latter, and nearby vegetation, to recover.

The team then moved to Shore Green to install a new marker post near the Baptist Chapel and its amazing set of stone steps.

Team 4:
Catherine and Kasher were replacing legs, cross-rails and treadboards on two stiles on Tod 148 near Knoll Top Farm above Warland. There were still small drifts of snow along the walls here! The stiles are now safely usable, although we will return later in the year to replace one stile leg and renew the marker post.
