Jerry and Rich went to look at 3 reported fallen trees - two small ones in Luddenden and one in Todmorden. Today's work was funded by donations to CROWS.
The Luddenden tree
A fallen oak causing the path to be impassable |
All cleared |
The Todmorden tree
The tree location in Todmorden - on Stack Hills Road (Todmorden 206). |
This is problematic, the tree is resting on semi dead willow tree. The problem with dead trees is that you can't be sure how they are going to fall! So we are going to take advice from our expert and friend as to how to approach it.
Stackhills Road is a lovely wide path with steps and setts, but it can be treacherous, especially in damp weather. Fortunately there is a hand-rail that makes it safer. The problem was a long section of the hand- rail was covered by an overhanging hedge, making it unusable!
The hand-rail covered in vegetation - not much use! |
Cleared and now usable |
