Two teams - Stella and Paul working on a bridge up near Broadhead Clough; Rich and Andy cutting back and waymarking at the top of Paper Mill Wood.
Today's work was funded by a generous donation from Calder Valley Fell Runners.

The details
Stella and Paul went to replace a number of slats on a bridge over Dry Clough, with some lopping on the way back.
Rich and Andy did lots of cutting back holly along the path and around a ladder stile.
A ladder stile in a holly tree - tricky to get over! |

Then it was on to the fields above where the route of the path was confusing. With waymarks added, a low post installed and some foliage lopped, the route is now clear.
On the way back to the car to go to the next job, we got a call from Stella to say Paul has fallen and hurt his ankle . . . and was immobile! We went over to join them. The ambulance had been called and all our first aid training from Amy Gault kicked in. Many thanks to the local resident who provided blankets and the brilliant ambulance crew. Together we got Paul down and off to A&E. He has broken some bones. Fortunately he will be OK . . . but definitely restricted to light duties for a while!
