RIPPONDEN : Footpath between Rochdale Road and Bar Lane

This was definitely a job of two halves. A local resident had reported an overgrown path which runs steeply down the hillside between 2  housing developments. To say it was impassable was an understatement - more like a jungle.

On Day One  a small team Jerry, Linda, and Eleanor helped considerably by a local resident, Heather, set to fight our way through the first layers of  undergrowth.

....just to give an idea of the path ... and in parts it was very narrow...

this sign unearthed from the vegetation said it all!

but  by the end of the session, we could see up and down the path

...... anf finally Jerry broke through at the bottom!

Day 2 A team of six people today Ginny, Clare, Angus, Lynda, Jerry and Linda doing more work on  the lower end of the path which was particularly bad.

We Started to uncover a fine set of stone steps - not sure when these last saw the light of day!

We had some great conversations with local residents and welcome cups of tea, They reckon that now the path has been properly cleared they will club together to keep on top of it all.

Today's work was funded by Ripponden Parish Council and individual donations. We are grateful to all.
