TODMORDEN - Near Great Rock

Another day of trying to ensure that paths near Great Rock are walkable . . .  BUT . . .  where are all the walkers/ramblers/hikers?

Today, David and Kasher went with the brush cutters, shears and loppers to attack Tod 007 and Tod 006. These two walled lanes go from just below Great Rock, pass near Whiteley Royd Farm and Upper House Farm to then drop down into Common Bank Wood.

While the upper stretches of these two paths seem to have been walked, the area immediately above Common Bank Wood was extremely difficult to negotiate; bracken, willow herb, balsam and brambles choked the path.

We have cut back the brambles but tried not to reduce the amazing supply of perfectly ripening berries. They are just ready for that special pie or batch of jam . . . get out there and PICK!

We would like to thank whoever has cut and mowed parts of Tod 006. This effort is really appreciated.

Today's work has been funded by Todmorden Town Council. Many thanks.

Today's strimmed paths near Great Rock.

David amongst the nettles and brambles.

The path just above Common Bank Wood . . . it's a jungle out there!.

The strimmed path: but still plenty of ripening
blackberries and bilberries.

Slightly easier now.

Strimming with a view.

We were being watched - the blackberry Chinook patrol?
