TODMORDEN - Grey Stone Lane and Todmorden Moor

There were two teams out from Todmorden today:

Team 1: RJ and Mick were working on the Todmorden Moor Geology Trail, the first part of this task having been undertaken last Friday. The team replaced marker posts, re-established posts which has been pushed over by cattle, cleaned notice boards and added new waymark disks. Watch this space for the relaunch of the Todmorden Moor Geology Trail and the associated leaflet.

Team 2: David and Kasher were strimming paths and cutting back vegetation near Mount Pleasant and Greystone Farm (near Great Rock); a follow-on from Wednesday's work. We completed the strimming of Tod 011 from just below Mount Pleasant to above Greystone Farm and also of Tod 008 towards Old Fold Farm.

Today's work on the Geology Trail has been funded by Reaps Moss Community Benefit Fund.

The work on Grey Stone Lane and nearby paths has been funded by Todmorden Town Council.

Many thanks.

Cleaning the info boards..

Mmm! Getting better . . . at least it's readable!

. . . and in case you were wondering, it's a goniatite (an 'ancestor' of the ammonite)

Team 2:

Tod 011: It's jungle warfare! Unfortunately, machetes are not
standard kit for local walkers! . . . not to worry, help is at hand!

. . . and it's CROWS! Tod 011: after our efforts!

It's now a path much easier to walk but . . .
. . .  watch out for the turnbys . . . the fallen
stones . . . . and the ditches!

Kasher: strimming through the densest of vegetation.
