BLACKSHAW HEAD: Fete time!

 Blackshaw Head Fete

Yet another fine day for this delightful, community-based occasion. Does the sun always shine on fete day?

A rolling team of CROWS ensured that all to do with our 'stall' went smoothly. The gazebo, the table, the boards and the pre-prepared display items were collected from the depot and set-up (an unusually hassle-free event) in the field adjacent to Blackshaw Head Chapel.

Throughout the day, two or more CROWS 'fronted' the stall and engaged with the public. There was much interest in our organisation, many compliments about our past and present work, and several suggestions for future tasks.

De-rigging the stall and returning everything to our Mytholmroyd depot was also trouble-free as our recently repaired gazebo folded neatly at the first attempt rather than playing its usual 'I'm a tangle of scrap metal' trick!

Here are some pictures of the day:

1. Flying the banner for CROWS.

2. Interior display in progress.

3. Two happy CROWS.

4. A specific task display - the Hippins
Clough packhorse bridge project.

5. Two of our taller visitors

6. Mmm! What's caught Linda's eye? . . . .

7. . . . .ah! Very eye-catching!

This was a most enjoyable day that encompassed all that is good about a community event - a variety of activities, a wide range of food stalls, strong representation from local interest groups, unobtrusive music a fell race and (rare for 'festival' events) hardly a sign of any litter! Congratulations to the organisers.
