HEBDEN ROYD AND OLD TOWN

 HEIGHT ROAD and OLD TOWN

Andrew, Ian S, Jan and Paul were out today finishing off work started a couple of weeks ago on a steep footpath up from Height Road toward Hebden Bridge Golf Club. It was a glorious day, perfect for working outdoors. Teaming up in pairs Andrew and Ian worked studiously to finish off a flight of steps while Paul and Jan put in place lengths of revetment to bank up the path lower down the hillside. Before the latter pair started, they split off to replace a rotted stile leg on a field stile in Old Town behind 'Top Oth Croft.'

Detail:

OLD TOWN STILE

This repair was reported by a local resident; the upper stile leg had rotted through at the base making the stile unsafe:

Worse for wear!

New stile leg in place.

HEIGHT ROAD: Steps and revetment:

Andrew and Ian carried out some splendid work in transforming a rough steep incline into a classy flight of steps.

Before shot of the terrain.

A new game? Hillside skittles?

Meanwhile Paul and Jan returned from completing the Old Town stile and set about inserting lengths of revetment to shape the path downhill from the bottom of the new flight of steps.

A prile of Crows...

We did manage to get a lunch break...

What work?

After lunch the two teams set forth to finish off the work in hand.

Short section of revetment.

Completed!

In conclusion, a rewarding day's work in rejuvenating this neglected footpath.

"Me phone won't work ..."

A parliament of CROWS . . . or 3 old geezers?
